For the record, Mars is way more interesting than Australia. No offence, Australian people, but saving you guys from invasion by busting up the nearest lift just doesn’t have the same narrative impact as freeing Mars from the yoke of an uncaring corporate government by unlocking an ancient alien terraforming device built into the core of the planet. The rest of the new Total Recall is pretty spot on; it includes all the nifty mind games the concept will allow. It’s just… smaller than its predecessor.
So, if the movie left you hungering for some more Mars-based action, in a few hours the NASA Mars Science Laboratory should be touching down on the Red Planet. Well, either that or it’ll be rendering a brand-new crater. This is one ambitious landing sequence, people. Either way, it should make a good show.
To be fair, by the time you read this it will likely all be over. This one is for all of our die-hard fans who wait by the website with bated breath every Sunday night. Like you should be doing.
